There’s another way (besides watching the show in a “trackable” way) to show Nielsen and its advertising clients that you watched. They track viewer recall of product placement — which is obviously way more significant in this ways-around-commercials age — and it matters enough to advertisers that it pays peoples bills.

Nielsen owns the site RewardTV.com. Surveys go live the day after a show airs, and the data collected from those surveys plays a pretty big part in how much money advertisers decide to spend supporting the show.

Taking the Community survey on March 16 won’t add to the actual ratings for the show. However, advertisers pay for the answers you provide, and you will be telling Nielsen’s corporate clients that you paid attention to the show, the brands within it, AND the commercials that aired during it.

Simply watch the show — in ANY format — by tomorrow, sign up for a free account on RewardTV, and take the Community survey on that site tomorrow.

It’s owned by Nielsen, you will be doing Community a favor by paying extra close attention to what happens during the show. If you can pay attention to the commercials too, that’s even better, but if you can’t or don’t watch those, that’s NOT the only data that matters.
